Job Description:
We are seeking qualified instructors to develop and deliver high-quality online courses in peace and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the field with the ability to engage and motivate learners in a virtual environment. Instructors will report to the capacity-building coordinator and the program manager.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Course Development: Design and create engaging online course content on various topics related to peacebuilding and security.
- Instruction Deliver live and recorded lectures, facilitate discussions, and guide students through course materials.
- Assessment: Evaluate student assignments, provide constructive feedback, and track progress to ensure learning objectives are met.
- Engagement: Foster an interactive and inclusive online learning environment to encourage participation and collaboration among students.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the institute to refine course content and teaching methodologies based on student feedback and emerging trends in the field.
- Networking: Stay updated on current developments in peace and security to enhance course relevance and effectiveness.
Required Skills and Experience:
Educational Background: Master’s degree or higher in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Security Studies, or a related field.
- Relevant Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, security, or related fields; practical security operations experience is highly desirable.
- Teaching Experience: Proven experience in delivering online courses or training programmes, with a strong ability to engage and inspire learners.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Zoom) and digital teaching tools.
- Languages: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required; proficiency in Somali or other relevant languages is a plus.
- Cultural Competence: Understanding of the socio-political context of Somalia and the Horn of Africa, with sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment
